From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.
